# The Desktop Pet is not visible

> The pet leaves while the sign-in screen is up, and it can be off, hidden or off screen.

**Symptom:** You expect the Desktop Pet on your desktop and it is not there.

**Cause:**

The usual reasons:

- The sign-in screen is up. The pet is gone then, and nothing brings it back until you sign in.
- The pet is hidden or switched off.
- Its position is off the screen you use. **Reset position** brings it back.
- **Keep above other windows** is off, so other windows can cover it.

**Solution:**

1. Sign in if DevHub shows the sign-in screen.
2. Open the Desktop Pet screen and click **Show pet**. Check that **Enable desktop pet** is on.
3. Turn on **Keep above other windows**.
4. Under **Window**, choose the display and click **Reset position**.
