# DevHub says "Git is not available"

> Plans, step trees and repository checks need Git; install it and click Check again.

**Symptom:** A banner says "Git is not available". The Dashboard lists the same under what needs attention: "Plans, step trees and repository checks need it."

**Cause:** DevHub could not find Git on this computer. Plans, step trees and checks of repositories use it.

**Solution:**

1. Click **Install Git**. It opens the Git download page in your browser.
2. Install Git.
3. Back in DevHub, click **Check again**.
